Read before using the ranking
How this was counted
This is recommendation frequency, not objective quality. It covers public beer destinations inside the City of Amsterdam boundary and was expanded and rechecked on 11 September 2026.
- One person, one vote per venue. Usernames are deduplicated case-insensitively across all 13 threads.
- Only clear positive endorsements count. Firsthand praise, direct recommendations and unambiguous agreement replies count. Questions, hearsay, deleted users, neutral mentions and criticism do not.
- Counts are verified minimums. Reddit can collapse or withhold comment branches, so “20+” means at least 20 identifiable endorsers in this auditable corpus.
- *Score is not raw upvotes. Reddit exposes a fuzzy net score, not separate upvote/downvote totals. The displayed figure sums the public score snapshots attached to qualifying endorsements; indexed Reddit results were preferred and archive snapshots filled gaps. It can change and does not determine rank.
- Multi-place posts are credited consistently. If one scored endorsement recommends several places, that score is credited once to each place. Expand the score total to audit every contribution.
- Branches stay explicit. Brand-level endorsements are assigned to a listed public taproom only where disclosed. Gollem praise tied to other branches is excluded from Raamsteeg.
- Food and hours are independent checks. Official branch pages and menus were checked 11 September 2026. “No menu advertised” is not proof that a one-off snack is impossible.
- Boundary and status matter. Diemen, Haarlem, Aalsmeer and Weesp production sites are out of scope. Butcher’s Tears is excluded because its Amsterdam shop is not a regular licensed taproom.
